Scratching Sydney's Surface

Every week I try and catch Mark on FBi radio in the morning to hear an amazing story on a side of Sydney that I had no idea about. Im usually left wanting to know more and so now Ive discovered the blog I thought Id share it with you... just hover over the title and follow the link.

"Mark D and Laila E are historians based in Sydney, Australia. When they are not working or doing other things, they are busy scratching the surface of their gritty, harbourside city."

Sydney, amazing city - amazing history! Get out there and check it out, and take me with you!

sittin back... on the wireless... lost in time and stuff

Lyrics to Kid You're A Dreamer by The Panics:

Oh my god listen to yourself man
ain't working like you had planned
not the same that your on your own now
with no direction, plus your old town

just somehow feel
theres so much you hide
so much that i need to find

it's in your face when you're by the window
don't believe her, kid you're a dreamer
come so far from where we begin
comin at ya, whatcha feelin

lead the air, find these hands tied
now your somebody, without the end
oh memory, a long ricker at sea

lead the air, find theres hands tied
now your somebody without the end
oh memory, a long ricker at sea

now your somebody without the end
oh memory, a long ricker at sea

The "Jindy" Files

Jindy is a red cattle X. The X thing is going to be a bit of a surprise, I got her off a girl out in western Sydney that takes in dumped dogs.

She was about 10 weeks old and she is about 16 weeks now. Jindy has been keeping me very busy. She is teaching me patience and to get out about more to local parks and appreciate the fresh air more.

Not very good socially, Im hoping puppy preschool will help her adapt to life with all the other dogs that live in Newtown. Roll on Sunday week one.

She is a quick learner, and loves hanging out at work and is generally a pretty good puppy. The puppy preschool lady said most pups have a window to learn from about 2- 20 weeks. Then she looked at me and apologized "sorry, cattle dogs have a window of between 2- 12" ah well Jindy, looks like we will just have to try that little bit harder!
