Love Outside Andromeda

Last night I was lucky enough to get to see the band, Love Outside Andromeda play just up the road at the Northcote Social Club. I really do like the fact that Melbourne has so many great venues and so many great bands playing that you really are spoilt for choice.

Venue small and intimate which ya gotta love and a cool music loving crowd, ya cant ask for much more. Support group, Cry Baby Killers were also a nice surprise offering some very tasty tunes and then there was, Love Outside Andromeda. Its been a while since I felt the goosebumps that i felt last night from a live band.

But while my writing is not flowing I shall leave it at that, the band were great, the album is worth having in your collection and if they were playing up the road again I'll be in the crowd and my toes will def be tapping!

Paddy's, poofs & princesses...

Melbourne certainly is diverse, ill give it that much, on Tuesday and Wednesday at Federation Square not only was the Gay Film Festival on, but also the L'Oreal fashion week and to top it off some of the Melbourne Irish community had taken over the stage and had some Irish dancing and ceol on show.

Great to see such a mish mash of people all getting in and using the one area.

Well my first St Paddys day in Melbourne was a wee bit different to what Id usually be up too. Now dont panic, copious amounts of drink were still consumed, but not being a local It was hard to distinguish between the plastic paddy pubs and the real ones.

All these new Irish pubs that are popping up are a disgrace and all the good ones with a wee bit of trad and cred are packed and the average punter has to wait very patiently to enter an already packed pub. So its a no win stituation for the Melbourne newbie. But dont dispair, I made it to a few pubs and had myself a wee pub crawl and ended up at the old Builders Arms in Fitzroy, which is a great Thursday alternative night.

I figured id cut my losses and just head to the Irish festival on Sunday in the Treasury Gardens and drag a few of the lads from work with me. Tis a day like this you miss the pub crawl in the main st in Headford or the craic in the Rocks. Where are all those spare toes when you need em eh?

Oh its that time of year and Im very excited! Very!

Posted by Hello

Well its hard to believe that Mardi Gras is upon us again so quickly after last year.
Fair Day went rather swimmingly, and a good time was had by all. Cheers to Fee and Rach and guest of honour wee Isla for making an appearance.
An even better time was had at the Impy after being soaked in a downpour that would have runined many a frock on the day.
No fair day now, being complete without a pub crawl, cutting line at the Newtown and then landing back at the Impy. Too much fun!!
And now its only 2 more sleeps til we all get rather messy again. Sorry but Im pretty bloody excited as Ive not been out nearly enough since the BIG move.
I fly from Melbourne Friday night and ill be heading out in Newtown if anyone is interested in meeting up for a few tasty beverages and ill be flying back to Melbourne late Sunday night. God help me get thru the workload on Monday and may the rest of the department be sympathetic to my state.
